Friends of Henly   Working To Keep Henly, Henly

Henly, Texas, has been a quiet country community for over a century.   But in just a few short years, your new neighbors could be a manufacturing plant, a truck stop, an apartment complex, a junk yard…unless we take action.

"Typical" Concrete Batch Plant

Commercial developers are eyeing our community in their quest to expand – looking for locations with no controls, no regulations, no restrictions.

As an unincorporated area, Henly is very attractive to these developers.

Our community is growing.

Let’s work together to thoughtfully and sensibly guide its future.

This is an important reminder that the HVFD Annual fund raiser Bar-B-Que is this Saturday,

June 4th.

They will be serving delicious Bar-B-Que from 11:00am through 2:00pm

Bring the kids and your appetite. The Bar-B-Que has always been delicious and the kids get to look around all the fire equipment. One of the department's med-evac helicopters may even put in an appearance.

Help support your local first responders. They will be the faces you hope to see when you have an emergency. Support of this department helps ensure that Henly will always have quick response to crisis situations.

In case you've not been there, turn south on RM 165 from Hwy 290 in Henly, turn left at the first road (Creek Road) and the Fire house will be the first building on your left... See you there.

The lifestyle we enjoy in Henly is being challenged by the continuing growth of the urban areas surrounding us.

The Friends of Henly was established by a group of community members to address the need for organizing our residents to protect our future.

The intent of the group is to provide sensible and responsible guidance for exploring and promoting options that model what our community could look like in the next 5 years and beyond.

We want to create a stronger sense of community
and keep the integrity and beauty of the place we call “home”.

Important News Flash!

As Predicted, A Concrete Batch Plant Has Found Unrestricted Land

In The Henly Area!

Austin Ready Mix has filed a request for permit to build a concrete batch plant in West Henly.
The proposed plant site will be located at Southern Road and Hwy 290 West. This is about 1/4 mile east of the old Friday's store on the South side of the highway.

There are families living on land directly adjoining their proposed site who are extremely upset for a number of reasons, their health, their air quality, their water quality, noise and light pollution, dangerous increase of heavy trucks on Hwy 290, and on , and on.

Even though the plant would be located just over the county line in Blanco County, it's still of concern to everyone in Henly for the same reasons.

Meetings will be announced and held. This is an important community battle for all of us and everyone needs to participate, do their part, express their opinions and feelings and keep fighting this.

Jackie Zbranek is spearheading the effort but will need a LOT of help. She's contacted the Stop Dripping Concrete group for support and advice.

We'll be posting updates, status reports, and documents  here as they become available.  Please check back often.
